- Long ago when the man and woman who were to be married were going to the church old shoes were thrown after them. Another superstition was that if the bride tore her veil it was considered a bad omen and it threw it gloom on the wedding. If it was raining on the wedding morning it was a sign that the bride would not be happy and this token was eagerly looked forward to on the wedding morning.
Another token of ill-luck was that if the sun threw a shadow of a person across before the bride when she was going up to the church, that someone would come between her and her husband and make them unhappy.- Bailitheoir
