    Long ago the shops were not as plentiful as they are now. People were very poor long ago. They used be selling Potato Baskets at the chapel gate. There was a butter market in Clashmore and one man would go around on Wednesday and buy all the butter from the people. Poor people used to get a loan of a horse from a farmer to plough their land and then they would do a week's work for him. The old people used to say that if you good a lot of money on Monday you would have luck for the week.
