There was bread made long ago which was made of bran and a little flour. This cake was made on a griddle which was placed on a brand. The farmers used to have mills and they used to grind the wheat for the people around for two-pence a stone. Another cake which was made was made of oaten-meal which was not a very nice cake.
There was also cake called a Potato cake. This cake was made of potatoes which were left after the dinner. It was made of potatoes and flour which were blended together with milk.
