Years ago a woman from the parish got up before dawn one morning mistaken in the time as there were no clocks then.

Years ago a woman from the parish got up before dawn one morning mistaken in the time as there were no clocks then. She had to walk about 7 miles to Youghal. Having gone a short distance from her home she met a woman dressed in black. She did not recognise her and to her surprise she came near her and asked her where she was going and replied that she did not know the time and that she intended to walk fine and easy and still be in town before the market would open.
At first she did not take any notice of the woman in black, but on looking around her in the dusk of the early morning, she saw a large funeral approaching and a number of women walking after the hearse 'caoining'. The woman in black remained standing beside here and told her not to be afraid but to remain where she was until the funeral had passed on to Templemichael graveyard. She then told her that she was a friend
