- Nearly every one has names on the horses and cows. If a cow had a different mark on her from the rest we call her by that name, Bawny or Crumbly.
We drive them into the cowhouse and we bail them there. The bails are made of timber . One piece of timber runs along the ground from wall to wall and is fastened to the walls. Another piece runs the same way from wall to wall, but it is the height of a cow's neck from the ground. At each cows place there is one fixed upright and another one hinged on the bottom bar and loose at the top. When the cow puts in her head beside the fixed upright the loose one is pulled against her neck and kept in place by a hasp.
We spancel the cross ones when we are milking. The spancel is made of the hairs from the cows tails or sometimes a soft rope.
If a cow is a thief, breaking into the tillage or into a neighbour's field we(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
