Scéal (ar lean)
“There was an old woman trying to make a churn of butter, but it failed on her because she had done great harm to a neighbours”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)he would be making the butter while she was blowing the fire. She did as she told. While she was blowing the fire Thunder and lightening and darkness came on the house and she heard eerie sounds like the rattle of chains echoing through the house. She became Terrified and screamed "take the soc and coulter out of the fire and I will never injure anybody again". The man replied "Tis well for you or I would put you down to hell for a life-time."- The Blessed Virgin was seen on May Eve at Father Mc Carthy's Well, Mount Melleray, doing the three rounds. The water from this well is brought by people to America. This water is sprinkled on the land on May Eve.
