  2. On the Keane estate near Cappoquin during the season when the game-birds were nesting, the tenants were forbidden to drive cattle or cars or to make any noise on the roads because the birds would be disturbed and the landlord and his friends deprived of their sport.
    This law was very cruel and the tenants often lost large sums of money because they could not bring their stock to the fairs to sell them. They were also prevented from bringing turf from the bog. If the tenants defied the landlord they were evicted.
