   The wild birds that are commonly found in Ballysaggart are, the Robin, the Blackbird, the Thrush, the Crows, the Skylark, the Sparrow and the Wren.
   The Robin has a red breast, because when Our Lord was drying on the cross, a Robin pulled one of the thorns out of His Head and a drop of blood fell on his breast and since that time every Robin is called Robin Redbreast.
   The Robin builds her nest in a hole in a fence. She lays four or five eggs.
   The blackbird builds his nest in laurel bushes or blackthorn bushes.
   The Crow builds her nest on tree-tops.
   The Sparrow builds his nest on house-eaves.
   The Skylark builds her nest in the ground.
   When the Thrush is near his nest he seems to say when he is calling, Come and see, Come and see.
   When the Blackbird is washing himself in the stream he seems to say, COme and see me am I not handsome.
   The Corncrake seems to say, Eat meat, Eat meat.
   When the cock-Robin brings food to the young ones he seems to say when he is
