- Marriages in the district usually take place during Shrove. This season occurs each year, between the 6th January and Shrove Tuesday. It is said that the unlucky days to marry are Monday, Tuesday and Saturday
There are a lot of local sayings, connected with Shrove and marriages: here is one of them:-
Monday for health,
Tuesday for wealth,
Wednesday the best day of all,
Thursday for losses,
Friday for crosses,
Saturday no luck at all.Sometimes money is given at other times stock is given by the bride’s father to the married people. Nowadays a wedding feast is usually held on the wedding day at the home and then they go somewhere on their honey-moon.
