The Cuckoo comes to this place in April. She comes from Africa. She lays four eggs in another birds nest. Then the other bird bird [sic] hatches the eggs, and when the young cuckoos come out she will feed them. The cuckoo eats eggs to make voice sweet. She has not a very nice song. Cuckoo, Cuckoo is all she sings. When the Cuckoo comes to this place you will know that summer is coming. She comes in April. If you have a brood of egs down when she come she will delay them a couple of days longer from coming out. If you are looking down to the ground the first time you hear the cuckoo you will have bad luck for the year.
