“There was once a man living in Derrynonagh in the parish of Addergoole.”
There was once a man living in Derrynonagh in the parish of Addergoole. His name was James Naughton. One night he was visiting in Massbrook and it was one o’clock when he left for home. The people of the house advised him (him) [sic] to stay that night but he said he would not. He said that if the devil that was on the road before him he would go because his mother would be uneasy without him.
On his way home he went astray. He travelled for miles and miles until he saw a light. Then he went to where the light was. What was in it but a big house. When he went in he saw two women. One gave him food to eat but the other women said if you(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
