  1. Once upon a time a man from Enniscrone Co. Sligo caught a mermaid on the shores of the Moy over opposite this place. He married her and they had three sons. One day she fled away again into the sea, but the man kept her cloak. Each night she came outside the door crying for cloak saying she could not do without it. The man hid the cloak in the corn stack. At last one night one of her sons told her where it was hidden and she got it.
When she was going away she could not bring her sons with her. She brought them across a field and she struck them with her coat, then they turned into three stones.
Then another man came to that place and when he saw the stones he began cursing them. Then he hit the stones and blood came dashing out of them.
