- Long ago, the old people had no tea nor bread like we have now.
They used to live mostly on potatoes and butter-milk.
It is about fifty years since the tea was introduced into this district, and it was only the rich people who could afford to buy it then. They used only buy an ounce or two at first it was so very dear, but in course of time it became cheaper, and so all the people of the place began to buy it. But it was only used after the dinner then, a half cup or so with a very thinly-baked pan-cake. After some years, it became cheaper and so those who could afford it used it for breakfast as well. Now-a-days we drink tea three(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
