Laughtmurrogha is the name of a tiny village (at present there are only two families there) about four miles west of Belderrig.There are wild steep hills on their sides.
In the olden times many people passed through here for it was on the principal path into Erris. Many a person had been killed by a great black dog near the village and nobody ever knew what was killing them. A man named Murrogh said to the soldier
"What would you do if the killer came on you?"
"Ah", laughed the soldier, "I'd throw my 'grandmother' at him ."
