Were I Hector that noble picture
Who fell a victim to the Grecian's skill
Or was I Paris who deeds are various
Or an arbitrator of an idle skill
I would range through Asia likewise Arabia
Through Pennsylvania to be seeking you
Through burning regions like famed Vesuvius
For one embrace of the Cailín Ruadh.
    V
Young man you are dreaming or
    else you are scheming
You are like the serpent tempting Eve
Your oily speeches do sting like leeches
But all your flattery wont me deceive.
    Therefore desist from your solicitations
For I am engaged I declare its true
To the lad I love beyond all earthly treasure
And he will soon enjoy his dear Cailin Ruadh.
    VI
Ye brilliant Muses you will ne'er refuse as
I pray give ear to this feeble theme
Likewise ye Muses who ne'er refuses
The wounds of Cupid I pray you will heel
On a perigrination to some foreign nation
My determination it may prove true
In hopes to find a maid more kind
Than this charming fair one - the Cailin Ruadh
