- Pancakes are made in most homes on this night. The ring is put in the cake and the old superstition that whoever gets it will marry first is attached to the finding of the ring
- Crowds attend morning mass and get the holy ashes. They bring home some of it to those who have not been to mass. There is a pious belief that the ashes should not be rubbed off on any account until the day is over. Some farmers in this district like to sow their oats on this day.
- A great number attend Mass and visit the Blessed Sacrament during the day.
- Good Friday is observed something like a holiday. Very little work is done and almost everyone young and old go to the church and perform the Stations of the Cross
- Easter Sunday there is great rejoicing for the feast. The young children and some of the grown ups to rise very early to see the sun dancing.
- The people believe that it is not lucky to bathe at Whitsuntide as it is a season of accidents.
- All crops are supposed to be sown before this date. There is a tradition that no one should touch clay this day. The children erect(continues on next page)
