- During Cromwell's reign in Ireland 1649 the Priests were not allowed to read Mass and often It was read on the hillsides.
One day a priest was reading Mass beside a little hill in the parish of Bohola he saw some of Cromwell's soldiers coming.
The Priest trying to escape ran across a field and lost his Beads.
Next day one of the people from the village found the Beads, and knowing it was the Priest's they named the village afterwards "Baile na Phaidirín".- Faisnéiseoir
