  1. Long ago people had a lot of home cures -got from the herbs and the plants of the fields which were far better than those got from doctor's nowadays.
    In my district- Meelick most of these cures are still in practice.The "Dockleaf"which is a very common plant is rubbed on a nettle burn and it eases the pain.
    The "Buachall an tighe which grows on thatched house -tops is used for corns when squeezed in to a white bandage and put on the corn.
    The "Cruadh Padraig" is a plant with green leaves used for cuts or scrapes.
    The leaves are pulled, warmed at the fire and clapped between the hands and then applied to the cut or scrape.
    The "Golden Rod" is a plant which grows high above the ground and it flowers in early Spring and Summer. The root of it is boiled in milk and then strained. The juice is drank for bad kidneys and the plant itself is a cure for a head ache.
