- There are many forts and one Mass-Rock in Ardhoom.
The Mass Rock is situated beside the river Moy at a place called "Pull-Seáin". It is a square flat rock and neighbours say that it is sunk down in the ground three or four feet.
When Cromwell came to Ireland in the year 1649 the priests were not allowed to read mass, then it was said n a flat rock or under the shade of a tree.
At that time mass was said very often at the Mass-Rock in Ardhoom.
Cromwell heard of it and said he would stop Mass to be said there. Then he sent four soldiers to throw it in to the Moy,
They came secretly by night and threw it in but when morning came it was back again to land and fixed in it's own place and is still there.
Thee is an old Legend about one of the forts:-
Thomas Murphy was a poor farmer and only kept one cow and her calf.
The cow died and Thomas had no milk(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
