   Last night I had a talk with Mrs. Morely again. She lives in Currane Swinford aged 80 years. She was telling me about the local herbs. The people used to go out into the fields and dig down for the roots of a flower called Comfry. Then they used to bring the roots home with them and scrape them until they used to come to the white part. Then they used to leave the white part on cuts on their hands and fingers.
   The Dandelion was a cure for kidney disease. They used to boil it in water and put the juice into bottles or jars. Then they used to take a glass of the juice every morning for fifteen mornings. They used to lie on a bed of nettles to cure rheumatism. They used to boil nettles in milk, and give the juice to the children for the measles. Mustard flower was used for rheamatics. It is a small yellow flower with a long thin stem which grows in marshy places.
