- (continued from previous page)damage. In the year 1917 there was a big snowfall. It lasted for four months. The snow was 10ft. high and it was in big drifts. No one could travel. The people were snowbound in their houses. In the year 1920 there was four months of drought. The stalks stoped growing and they faided. The wells and bogs and rivers dried up. Some people and animals died with thirst.I got this from my father, Pat Rush, Culclare.
- In the olden times there was a farmer in Carralockey. He taught children in a barn. The children had no books. He taught them for Communion and for confirmation. he taught them how to serve mass and he also taught (him) them Irish prayers. His name was James Cassidy, Carralockey. He got no pay If he caught he would be put to jail.
