- Some two hundred years ago when Landlord Phillips owned the Cloonmore estate Killabeagh got its present name.
One day a large mehal of men was reaping oats for Lord Phillips in a field on the South Eastern portion of the estate. They finished early in the day and came home across the fields where Carracastle Church now stands. When in a field at present behind the chapel they saw what they considered a very queer stone standing in the field.
