- The birds most common in my district are the thrush, the robin, the wren, the sparrows, the magpie, the lark, the crow, the yellow hammer, and the balckbird. It is said that when boys rob birds nests, the birds go flying about cursing them. When the robin comes around the door it is the sign of snow. When the sea-gulls come into the land it is the sign of a storm. The robin is one of the birds connected with Our Lord, because when Our Lord was dying on the cross, the robin rubbed his breast of Our Lord and his breast got red with(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
