1. Churning

   We have a churn at home. It is about two feet high. At the bottom it is three feet wide and at the top it is about two feet wide. It is of a round shape. It is about two years old. The different parts of the churn are, the lid, the churn-dash, and the "clabbin". there is not any mark in any part of the churn except on the top where the lid is fitted on. In Summer butter is made twice in the week and in Winter only once. My mother always makes the churning herself. At any time when strangers come in and the churning is being made, they always take the churning a few minutes, as there is a belief that if they did not, there would be no butter in the milk, otherwise they would bring it with them. There is a an old Irish custom not to give
