- People in this locality use a lot of Irish words when speaking the English language, as the Irish words will express their feelings better.
When they want to say that a person is very good hearted they say he is very flaitheamhail. If they want to say that a person is very mischievous, they say he is "ann tubaisteach." If they wanted a person to go to the rick of turf, they would say, "go out for a few caoráns." When they wanted to say that a person was very untidy they would say "she is an awful strachaille, or a straoilleachán."
When they wanted to say that a person was not a good worker he was called a "beag-'a-mhaith." When a person did anything wrong, they called him an óinseach. When they want to speak about the bog, they say, I was working in the eanach or in the fáslach, and they have no English for those words.
When they say that a person made a mess of a thing they say he made a "praiseach" of it. They say that a person is a "pusachán" and they have no English for this word. If they were talking about a queer person they would say he is a queer feithidhe. When they say that a person is a great pet, they say she is a great maiscín[?]. They never call a young filly, anything but a bromach.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
