It is also recorded that the reason for Fr. Bryan Kilkenny Guardian of Ross helping the Protestants was Bishop Maxwell Protestant Archbishop of Liam helped the Friars in Ross by sending them word that he had orders to suppress the Abbey. They were prepared for the same when he did come and the Abbey was not destroyed. They stayed at Ross Abbey until the following Tuesday when Captain Burke sent his carriages and brought them to Castlehackett where they waited until the 17th of March. He/They then went to Galway. The Governor of Mayo's son was arrested and executed for being suspected of/in the killing of the Protestants.
