- A cure for the whooping cough is to ask a man with a white horse for a cure and to do whatever he says. For a sore put a fasting spit on the hearth when you get up in the morning and rub it on the sore for three mornings commencing on a Thursday. White bread and water is good for a sore.

- Flaxseed boiled with candy was the old cure for a cold. Whey was considered a good cure for any fever. Arrowroot boiled in milk was considered a nourisheen food for sick people. Boiled chicken-weed serve as a very good remedy(continues on next page)
