   The people of this district would not go bathing or swimming in the water on Whit Sunday. Long ago the old people would not like a cow to calf or their mare to foal on that day because they used to think that, that calf or foal would kill someone when he would grow up.
   St Johns Eve.
   St Johns Eve is called the bon fire night. The boys of this district go around with bags from one house to another getting turf and then they make a big fire. Long go they used to milk their neighbours cows and used to boil a big pot of loaves and milk, and used to have a great feast. Early in the night the old people used to gather around the fire and used to kneel down and say the rosary, and when they used to be going home they used to throw a coal out of the
