“Clogher school was opened for the first time in 1854.”
Clogher School was opened for the first time in 1854. It was built on the Lynch (late Fitzgerald Kenney) estate and the Lynchs and the Kenneys were the managers of it till 1914. The original desks, floors, blackboards (are what remains of them) are here still. The desks are scarred with initials - some of them of men who having lived a long life are now dead. It is now in a forgetful state of disrepair.About a quarter of a mile away on the bank of a small stream is an old dismantled mill - though the walls are still standing.
