  1. A Queer Night's Spinning
    The following was narrated by Michael Moran (87) at present living at Roslahan, Belcarra. The story was told to him by his mother who died about 60 years ago. She lived all her life time in Tournalaheen, about 3 miles from Castlebar on the north side. Spinning wool was his mother's favourite employment.
    The spinning wheels so plenty in my young days are dying out more is the pity and many is the tale my mother told me about her spinning in her own young days. Here is one of them in them days the childer would be twenty year afore they knew what a pair of boots was.
    When the childer were gone to bed of a winters night my mother was up very late spinning when she heard a knock and when she opened the door didn't she spot the quarest woman as ever she saw. She had a horn growing out of
