- Long ago the people never wore shoes as they do now. Boys and girls used to be twenty years when the would get a pair of shoes and the one pair of shoes would do two boys or tow girls in the house. The sort of shoes the used to wear was shoemakers shoes and the would take them off when the would come home from Mass. Some people never were shoes because they could not leave them on their feet The water the used to wash thir feet with was the sink water that means the water that runs off the street into a puddle. Their feet used to be so coarse that the used to scrub them with sand to take off the dirt.
