- There was a king in Ireland long ago and he had seven sons. The King was not very rich, and he was not able to give each wan of them a fortune. So wan day he called the seven sons together and he told them that he was not very well off and that some wan of them would have to go off and seek his fortune and the wan that would go he said he would give him a mare and ten pounds (ten pounds was a lot of money that time). So the King told them to go out in the field and kick football, and that he would ring a bell for them to come in, and whichever wan of them would be last in would have to go and seek his fortune. When they were about to go out, the King called his youngest son wan side, Jack was his name, and he says to him - "Now Jack", says he, "all the others are better fit to go than you, and let you keep near the goals and(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
