  1. (continued from previous page)
Willie Carney and meself, we waited and listened for a bit, and the thing came out just at us and left a great "Huh! Huh!" out of it; and what was it but a badger. Begob we snared and ferreted away for a long time and we got a right lot of rabbits that night.

  2. But there is no doubt things used be seen around theere (Piggot's place in Slevoy) I remember wan night, I had eight or nine traps set around there, and some snares, and I had to stay up watching them for fear of cats & dogs coming along and taking the rabbits on me.
The road was just near the field and the avenue up to the house was just at me. Well I see the carriage coming up the avenue. Hearing a thing, is wan thing, but I seen it - Quite plain coming up the avenue. Begob I got afraid and I skipped it. Ould Piggott was supposed to be seen driving around in a carriage, and I suppose it was he was in it that night. It couldn't be anywan else at that hour of the night
