  1. Talleys were used by servants long ago about here.
    The used them to keep account of their money.
    They would put a long notch in the sticks for a pound, and a notch about half as long for ten shillings, and a shorter wan again for five shillings.
    Says men would be absent from work would be marked with an "x".
    Watty Fardy was only an idiot and he bet Jimmy Cullen in the court over money that was coming to him. Watty had a tally and Jimmy Cullen had a book and Watty bet him. (beat)
