- Kilurin castle is supposed to have been built by the Danes, many centuries ago.
Near this old castle, it is said, a crock of gold is buried, and that the dew never falls in the spot in which the gold lies.
The old people said that a soldier used to guard this gold day and night and that anyone able to fight him would get the gold. The castle is beautifully situated in the centre of a woodland with the river Slaney flowing beside it.
