  1. About a quarter of a mile from the village of Taghmon, on the north side, there is a round pond of water, known as the Quarry Hole.
    It seems this place must have been a quarry in years gone by, and when it fell into disuse became filled with water.
    it is very deep. There is supposed to be sixty feet of water in one part of it.
    There are many stories told about it; and people dread going swimming in it.
    One day, long ago, a man, who was working near the Hole, was eating his dinner, when a huge fish came out of the water and devoured him. We are told that
