New collection

Material from The Main Manuscript Collection has recently been opened to Meitheal Dúchas.ie for transcription. This material is being provided on a phased basis.

The first 10 volumes of Irish-language material made available for transcription have been pre-transcribed using advanced handwriting recognition technology and language models that were specially developed for National Folklore Collection manuscripts. However, we need your help to improve the quality of the transcriptions! Please consult our guidelines before you start working.

We have also made 10 volumes of mainly English-language material available for transcription. Follow the links below and you will be given a random story from the collection to transcribe…

We recommend that you create a user account first so that your work will receive the appropriate recognition.
