  1. Shrove is the most popular time for the celebration of marriage though they take place frequently all the year round with the exception of Lent. Wednesday is believed to be the luckiest wedding day: an old saying is, - "Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wednesday the best day of all. Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses, and Saturday the worst day of all."
    There are no matchmakers in this district. Their money is the sole attraction that girls have for the male sex. Stock and goods are never given as dowry, but clothes and household goods are often bestowed. It is a custom to throw rice and confetti on the bride and bridegroom as they leave the church, and old shoes are flung
