- In the year 1798 a battle took place in Old Kilcullen. The English were led by a cruel leader, General Dundas. The Irish put up a bold fight and Dundas said that if they (Irish) laid down their arms the English would surrender. The Irish believed this and dropped their arms. Dundas then rose out and slaughtered every one of the Irish on The Gibbeth Rath at the Curragh. The man who led the Irish a man named Farrell.
