On St Brigid's day (1st February) the people of this area make small crosses out of rushes. These crosses are then hung about the houses. If you have a cross in your house it is said that nobody in that house, can die of poisoning or fire.
On Palm Sunday the people get blessed palm at mass. When they go home they put it behind holy pictures or in their prayer books.
