There is a rhyme about mag-pies which is also a warning.
One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a wedding
And four for to die.
It is said to be unlucky to break a mirror on a Monday. If you pass under a ladder you will have seven years of ill-luck.
If there is a stick sparkling in the fire and whoever a spark hits is said to get money.
