  1. The best known toys made long ago are as follows - tops, clay dolls, Jack-knifes, balls and mostly simple things like that, while the more manly toys were - stilts, slings, catapults suckers, and kites.
    We had a gardener who was clever in the manufacture. One day I asked him what he could make. He said that he used to make stilts suckers, kites, clay dolls, a "arrow" parachute. For his children at home.
