  1. The battle of Old Kilcullen was fought in 1798. The town was taken and the majority of the inhabitants were massacred. The rest fled across Knockaulin to the Curragh. General Dundas came after them and massacred them all on the 'Gibbeth Rath' At
    It is said that Cromwell passed through Harristown on his way to Wexford & Clonmel
