In olden times the houses in this district were mostly tached.
The poor people that would have no straw would tach their houses with rushes. They had no glass in the windows and they were very narrow. In the old houses the fires were mostly in a corner and very often they had no chimneys instead a hole was left near the the roof for the smoke to go through.
