- When a hen begins to cluck she is put in a box of hay, in a quiet, dark house, with a clutch of 13 eggs under her. She is left there for twenty-one days and at the end of that time she brings out a clutch of chickens. During her hatching period, she is taken off once a day for her food, and while she is off a warm cloth is put over the eggs to keep them warm until she returns.
Eggs that are laid on good Friday are marked with a cross, and kept to be eaten(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
