  1. When a man is going to plough for the first time in the year it is lucky for him to bless himself outside the stable door before he goes in near the horses to feed them.
    When it is time to start he takes them to the field and yokes them to the plough. He takes up a bit of the soil and throws it in the direction of the horses saying In the name of God I start this work that God will bless and guide my work through the day.
    If his horses are fresh they are liable to tear off, and probably stop. If this does happen and if
