- Before the famine the district was thickly populated. During the famine the people died in thousands with the fever. There was an old car that used to come and take all the sick people to hospital. The Carlow Stables turned into a hospital.
The cause of the famine was the blight on the potatoes. The blight came on the potatoes in the ground(continues on next page)
