  1. There are many signs of the weather such as if a cat sat with his back to the fire it is a sign of rain. If the sky was red at the north the next day would be fine. If a frog came out of the water on the road it is a sign of rain. If the smoke was going up straight out of the chimney it is a sign of fine weather, but if it comes down to the ground it is a sign of rain.
