  2. During the years of the famine 1847 and 1848. All the crops failed and were burned except the wheat and oats and the peoplel had to sell them to pay the rent. The old people tell us that when the people dug the potatoes and gather them, the poor people came and dug the ground again to get all the potatoes that escaped.
