  1. In the olden times there were a lot of forges in this district. Mr Brady had a forge at Corbeha Cross and Ned Riley had a forge in Baile na lice and Michael Hurley had a forge in Lannact and Frank Hogan had a forge in Knockbeha and a man by the name of Laurence Kelly in Caher had another forge. These men used to work in their own forges.
    All these forges are knocked now. They used onely charge a shilling to put on one shoe.
